In an attempt to rebuild the faith in its Mi 4i, Xiaomi has now started rolling out the MIUI version 6.5.5.0 update for all its Mi 4i users. This comes after the company received numerous complaints of overheating . The company tried to fix this glitch last week, but users then complained that the smartphone showed a new software error – this time related to the power button. Xiaomi then stopped seeding that update, and VP Hugo Barra has just announced that the new version has begun rolling out via OTA glitch, and comes with many bug fixes and optimizations.

Barra in his Facebook update, explains how Xiaomi has fixed the overheating issue. “We’ve heard from some Mi 4i users that their devices can get warm under more strenuous conditions such as complex 3D gaming for extended periods of time. To address these concerns, we’ve optimized our thermal control algorithms to better regulate the temperature. The new thermal controls adjust frequency, voltage and the number of cores in use depending on the chipset temperature,” he explained.

The new update is a gradual release, and should be received by all Mi 4i users by the end of this week. We recommend to free up some space, and install the new update in a strong Wi-Fi connection. Also, ensure that the Mi 4i has enough battery charge to enable seamless install.

As the update is via OTA, user will get a notification when the update arrives on their smartphone. However, one can even alternatively check manually in the Settings menu to see if they have received the update or not.

The Mi 4i is currently being sold via the open sale model on Flipkart. As far as the specifications are concerned, the Mi 4i flaunts a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) IPS OGS display with a density of 441ppi. Under the hood is a second-generation 1.7GHz Snapdragon 615 octa-core (1.1GHz quad-core + 1.7GHz quad-core) 64-bit processor paired with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB internal memory. On the photography front, the smartphone features a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera.

The smartphone also features a 3,120mAh battery and connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots with both supporting LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS. On the software front, the Mi 4i is the first Xiaomi smartphone to run on Android Lollipop-based MIUI 6.
